About Make Great Light

Kevin A. Kirschner has worked in vision care since 1973. He began his career in the United States Air Force Optometry Department at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, where he became a Certified Optometric Assistant. His studies in physiological optics and color darkroom technology planted the seeds for what would become the NaturaLux™ Filters.

After his service, Mr. Kirschner studied diagnostic ultrasound of the eye at the University of Iowa, then trained at USC's Doheny Eye Institute and UCLA's Jules Stein Eye Institute. He was certified by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant in 1979, and has operated his own mobile diagnostic ophthalmic laboratory in Southern California since 1981.

Over a 50-year career, Mr. Kirschner observed that the #1 visual complaint in the eye clinic was headaches, eyestrain, and visual fatigue caused by artificial lighting. He developed a light-filtering product that addresses glare at its source: the light fixture. His work resulted in three U.S. patents (#4,989,953; #5,218,474; #6,019,476) and earned him the title "Best Business Inventor of 1989" from The Metropolitan Journal. His inventions have been featured in Entrepreneur Magazine, PC Magazine, and PC Sources Magazine.

NaturaLux filters color-correct and enhance the visible light spectrum to closely approximate full spectrum midday sunlight. UV absorbing material was added to prevent fading and protect from harmful UV radiation.
